Father’s day, puppets, anniversary, et al

It’s been an exciting past week at the Werth house. Last weekend was Father’s Day and started off with installing a new (used) dishwasher as the old one decided to die.

Afterward, Mary, Larry, and Laura visited for an evening of grilling. With the start of the week, Elise and the boys visited Nonni as the hydrants were being flushed and caused some interesting water during the daytime.

Thursday rolled around, and along with it, our fifth anniversary. We decided to celebrate by going out to eat at the local Jukebox restaurant. On Friday, Nonni decided to visit the boys, and they had a fun time making sock puppets.

That night, we headed to Glencoe and stayed overnight with Grandpa and Grandma. While they were watching the boys, Elise and I had a quiet evening out at Lola’s on the Lake in Waconia. Unfortunately, during this time Laura’s house as well as a good majority of Glencoe was being flooded by heavy rains.

On Saturday, we spent the day relaxing and hanging out. Grandpa Fred received a late Father’s day gift and enjoyed grilling on it for the first time.

Today (Sunday) we said goodbye at mass to our parish priest, and spent the afternoon continuing the work on our walkways.

It’s been an active, but enjoyable, week!

At Home with the Boys

It seemed like a long time in coming, but summertime finally arrived.  Here’s some of my favorite pictures so far.

A “growing” day

After getting a little flack from certain individuals that I rarely post any new information, I thought I’d give it a go.

Today was what I like to call a growing day for Jacob. It basically consisted of taking a bath in the early morning due to an amazingly full diaper that was easier to fight with an entire bathtub of water than just a few diaper wipes, a fair amount of eating, and sleeping…lots of sleeping. In fact, as I write this, the little man is passed out, wrapped up in a blanket after falling blissfully asleep after his dinner 2.0 (even though we ate at 5, he still managed to want dinner with the rest of us and then again at the time we have normally been eating this past week).

It is after days like today I wish we had a scale like the one at the doctor’s office. I swear he felt heavier when I fed him this evening than when he ate this morning!

On Wednesday, we will have sort of a trial run of what it will be like once I head back to work. I have a school obligation from 9-3 in Cedar Rapids that day and the boys will be hanging out together at home while I am away. I have confidence they will be fine together, I just wonder how  it will be with me away. I guess there is only one way to find out…

I hear my little giant starting to stir so I had better hurry up.

Here are a few pictures of our antics from today. Enjoy!

Lunchtime Antics

After visiting the doctor on Thursday we discovered that Jacob has been growing steadily. He is currently 9 lbs. and 21 inches long. Because of his growth spurt, we decided to let him have a go behind the camera. The video that follows is what happens when it is directed by a 19-day old. Jacob Cam.

Waiting…

We’ve been receiving various inquiries as to the status of the baby. Needless to say…we are wondering as well. It still just seems to be hanging out and moving around. After a snow day today, it continues to be happy where it is. More updates to come 🙂
